Cold rated lithium ion, fencing, a creative installation in Miami, more! – pv magazine USA

S-5! Working with a metal roofing company that installs two unique products in one location, SMA has launched a containerized medium voltage transformer that is directly connected to the large inverters. So far, the module prices in China have remained unchanged. Send your hardware and service messages to [email protected]

Jason Truesdale, CEO of Fortress Fencing, has been with the company for over 18 years. The standard product they installed for solar EPCs is a six foot high chain link fence with a high tension wire and a 1 inch high three-stringed barbed wire. For pricing, Truesdale needs a site plan with the fence path and gate positions.

Goldin Solar installed 14 kW on The Miami Children’s Museum a few years ago and a pleasure to look at. Goldin identified some of the challenges required to install an aesthetically and technically viable system for the unique and fully customized space:

  • The support beams on which the panels are mounted are all at different heights, so that each beam-to-beam connection is at a different angle. As a result, each set of panels had a unique set of clamps made at the correct angle for their pair of horizontal beams. Making sure the correct clamps were attached to the correct brackets was an organizational difficulty.
  • The aluminum rails on which the panels are mounted are not aligned along the entire length of the wall. In order to align the panels themselves so that the cells matched from row to row, the rails were attached to the panels in alternating positions as shown in the photo below.
  • Because the panels had different orientations to the sun, this project was an early application of microinverters instead of the typical string inverters that were the standard at the time.

Lithium-ion batteries behave differently when it is cold. There is constant talk about electric vehicles on this topic. Massachusetts-based KiloVault has developed a film about how to heat the battery: “CHLX batteries use KiloVault’s internal heating technology to continue charging at sub-zero temperatures. When the ambient temperature falls below freezing point (0 ° C), the charging current is diverted through a heating film in the battery so that an internal temperature can be maintained above freezing point. As soon as this is achieved, the battery can be charged again normally. “Their website did not mention the cost of electricity for heating. Source – KiloVault

Containerized medium voltage equipment for 4.6 MWac solar projects. While it will likely be another 16 to 24 weeks before they build it in the factory, at least the installation will be quick. “SMA America introduced the medium-voltage power plant (MVPS) to the American market. Four power classes up to 4.6 MW are available for the new supply solution. This solution is the first time a fully containerized, turnkey system has been offered in the United States. “The system works best with the SMA Sunny Central UP inverter series. Source – SMA

S-5! The product offering has grown dramatically over the years, and we are now at the point where it is by default assumed that we can fit any roof – compared to the historical challenges. The company had a roof installed using two unique metal products (built by a metal roofing company).

First was a non-standard standing seam – “S.– –5!-T mini-clamps were selected to attach the solar panels to the system. ‘s new symmetrical standing seam roof system 238T. With a two-piece design for easy installation anywhere along the length of the panel seam S.– –5!-T Mini Clamps are specially designed for profiles with a T-shaped seam configuration such as the 238T. “Second, it was a trapezoidal multi-rib panel roof system, the RibBracket II from S-5! Much has been said about upward pressure on module prices and all components made in China in general as coronavirus challenges persist. PV InfoLink is seeing something right now – but not much.

However, there are many variables that can affect the fields. It takes a few weeks for the volume to move across the oceans. This product was made before the Chinese New Year and was in the supply chain. Dealers with their own stocks are also to be included. However, with the largest project developers with the capital in the bank and the performance clauses in their contracts, project managers have a look at the supply chain months in advance – and they will use their loans to secure the volume in the oceans and in warehouses.
