Nio Inc – ADR (NYSE: NIO) kicked off its Nio Day 2020 event late Saturday local time in Chengdu with a lot of fanfare. The event was attended by numerous users and Nio fans from all over China and was also broadcast via live stream.
The annual event usually takes place in December, but this year for unspecified reasons it takes place in January.
According to reports in the run-up to the event, the company presented its first sedan, the Nio Power Swap Station 2.0 and the 150 kilowatt-hour battery.
Curtains for the brand new ET7 sedan: Nio’s first sedan, named ET7, was launched by company founder, chairman and CEO William Li with the slogan “Ready For Tomorrow”.
Li described the car as an evolution of Nio’s design DNA and a break with convention.
According to Li, the ET7 is the first digital UWB key and has soft-closing doors and frameless windows.
The car is 5,098 millimeters long, 1,505 millimeters high and 1,987 millimeters wide. It has a wheelbase of 3,060 millimeters.
The interior is designed with a “second living room” concept. The car is equipped with Nios in-vehicle artificial intelligence NOMI, which offers infotainment and navigation functions. It has a 12.8-inch AMOLED central display and uses a third generation Qualcomm Snapdragon cockpit platform.
Other features highlighted by Li included dual-beam LED headlights, daytime running lights with a double dash, integrated X-bar, three-dimensional crystal light heartbeat taillight, a laminated all-glass roof that insulates against 99.9% of UV rays, and micro-lines -Headliner.

Autonomous driving: The Navigate On Pilot of the ET7 is equipped with NAD or Nio Autonomous Driving and has the Aquila Nio Super Sensing System with high-resolution LiDAR with an extremely long range. It features an 8-megapixel camera to support autonomous driving and Adam Nio, the company’s mass-produced mobile computing platform. Adam has four NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) Orin SoCs and has 1,016 TOPS of processing power.

Li claimed Adam’s processing power was seven times that of Tesla Inc.FSD (NASDAQ: TSLA).
Nio offers hardware and AD as a Service as standard, with which all functions of NAD can be subscribed to on a monthly basis. The NAD has 19 safety and driving-assisted functions that can be offered under Autonomous Driving-as-a-Service (ADaaS).
Lower air resistance, higher efficiency and greater range: In terms of performance, Li said the ET7 has an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.23. The highly efficient drive train platform of the second generation with SiC power module improves the energy efficiency of the vehicle.
The range of the sedan, which is equipped with a 70 kWh battery, is over 500 kilometers, and the range is improved to over 700 km with a 100 kWh pack and to over 1,000 km with the newly introduced 150 kWh battery.
The sedan accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in just 3.9 seconds.
Pricing: The Standard Edition of ET7 with a 70 kWh battery costs 448,000 yuan ($ 69,185) before subsidies. Under a Battery-as-a-Service program, the price is 378,000 yuan ($ 58,375) and a monthly subscription of 980 yuan ($ 140).
For a Standard Edition sedan with a 100 kWh package, the price is 506,000 yuan, while the BaaS plan price is 378,000 yuan plus a monthly subscription fee of 1,480 yuan.
The ET7 Premium Edition with a 100 kWh package costs 526,000 yuan ($ 78,140). For the BaaS option, the monthly subscription fee is 398,000 yuan ($ 61,460) plus a monthly subscription fee of 1,480 yuan ($ 230).
The monthly subscription fee for the full NAD package is 680 yuan (US $ 105) per month.
Pre-orders for the ET7 begin immediately through the Nio app, Li said.
Li also announced some incentives, such as a 5,000 yuan ($ 772) deposit, a 10,000 yuan ($ 1,545) discount on pricing. Existing Nio customers who order ET7 will receive a discount of 7,000 yuan ($ 1,081) and 30,000 Nio points. ES8 Founders’ Edition customers who order ET7 will receive a discount of 10,000 yuan ($ 1,545) and 50,000 points.
Delivery of the vehicle will begin in the first quarter of 2022.

Power Swap Station 2.0 The next generation power swap station from Nio offers space for 13 batteries and increases the capacity by three times. The daily capacity is up to 312 swaps, Li said in his address.
It facilitates the automatic parking of cars in the station with a tab on the central display.
Nio said its 500 power swap stations will be operational by the end of 2021.

This increases the range for the new ES8 vehicles to 850 km, for the ES6 vehicles to 900 km and for the EC6 vehicles to 910 km.
Any user can choose to upgrade to the new battery, Li said.
