France sees new 2021 record for COVID-19 intensive care cases

PARIS (Reuters) – France reported 15,792 new coronavirus cases on Monday, more than double the 6,471 reported last Monday, and the number of people in intensive care with the virus rose 142 to a new high of 4,548 in 2021, as data from the Ministry of Health showed.

The new cases increased the cumulative total to 4.29 million, an increase of 5.40% over the previous week. This was the 14th consecutive weekly increase, which was less than 4% on March 9th.

France also recorded 343 new deaths, bringing the total COVID-19 deaths to 92,621.
