who we are

Eternit is the only UK manufacturer of semi-compressed fiber cement profiled sheeting with roofs specifically tailored to the needs of UK farmers and this unique climate.

Working with agriculture, we have invested our experience and know-how to help agricultural professionals build better buildings and thus improve profitability.

We have expertise in roofing requirements in a wide variety of farm buildings – from dairy, beef, pigs, poultry, and equestrian to grain stalls – with a range of profiled films to suit every need.

What we sell

Our market leading fiber cement roofs are designed for a wide range of farm buildings. They are designed to regulate temperature and humidity and reduce noise levels to maximize animal comfort, production and profit.

What we know

We know that uncomfortable and humid environments lead to stress, illness and decreased productivity in animals. That is why our roofs are designed in such a way that they absorb up to 25% of their weight in moisture. No other product on the market can do this.

We also know that expanding existing building facilities or investing in new buildings is an important investment. So getting it right is important and it has long-term benefits for profitability, animal welfare, and the environment. Like the churches we have served for over a century, we focus on value and animal welfare.

That is why our design innovations focus on ensuring that your animals feel good and perform at their best. Our products achieve this through:

  • Regulation of temperature by absorbing excess heat
  • Reduce exposure to noise
  • Maximizing light to increase milk production

Happy animals do better. It makes sense and is backed by science.

How our roofs absorb heat

Long-term heat stress can cause serious illness. At higher temperatures and higher humidity, a cow collects heat during the day, which can lead to a possible loss of production that can lead to a loss of appetite.

That is why moisture absorption is a key factor in our product design. Studies show that cows feel most comfortable at temperatures between 5 ° C and 20 ° C, while newborn calves ideally need a minimum temperature of 7 ° C.

Our roofing membranes not only offer high absorption, but also high-performance thermal technology. They absorb the sun’s heat on hot days to keep indoor temperatures lower, while they retain heat on cold days.

Our products are designed for maximum animal welfare, as healthy animals grow faster and have a higher production rate.

How our roofs reduce animal stress

For us, noise is another important aspect in the design of our roofs. Cows have a well-developed hearing ability and are exposed to stress at sound levels above 80 dB – similar to the sound of a lawn mower or loud rain drumming on a roof.

Eternit profile sheets have a very high acoustic damping performance, which reduces the noise caused by the animals and creates a more pleasant working environment for the farmer.

Tests show that the noise from heavy rainfall under our fiber cement roofs is only half as loud as metal roofs.

How our roofs optimize the light

Studies show that lighter milk buildings increase milk production, with the light periods (16 to 18 hours per day) measurably increasing compared to natural light periods (8 to 14 hours per day).

By optimizing the light in the building, milk production can be increased by approx. 5%.

That’s why we designed translucent roof panels that sit next to our standard corrugated sheets.

The Eternal Promise to You

Eternit fiber cement corrugated sheets do not rust or rot, are insensitive to fungi, bacteria and vermin and resistant to all chemical influences, including ammonia.

Fiber cement is a fire retardant material and Eternit roofing membranes have one of the best fire ratings in the industry. They are suitable for all weather conditions and are built to create the most pleasant working environment for both animals and farm workers.
