East Borough, a seedy little Vietnamese banh-mi shop that operated in an open-air stand next to the curb at the Costa Mesa camp, has a new home in almost a decade.
The restaurant is now in a larger room in the same complex and the menu has been expanded, but Brad A. Johnson says it’s still the place to go for the best banh mi in Orange County. However, he also recommends another outstanding menu item. Continue reading.

Mom closes in Newport Beach
Mama’s Comfort Food & Drinks, which serves burgers, pizza, salads, sandwiches and divisible starters, has closed its waterfront location in Newport Beach after less than two years. The restaurant still has locations in Los Alamitos and Huntington Beach and a new location en route to another part of Orange County. Anne Valdespino has more. Continue reading.

Eating in the parks
Two parks, two food festivals. Knott’s Berry Farm will continue its food festival trend with a foretaste of the Boysenberry Festival from March and Disney California Adventure will start a food and drink experience at about the same time. Brady MacDonald has more.
