based in Germantown Great Lakes Roofing Corp. has been offering free roofer help and repairs for home and commercial building owners since 1987 as part of its Helping Hands program.

“GLRC co-owners Don Pucci and Chris Lampien believe in living our values every day and in every interaction with customers and employees,” said Kris Moran, Marketing Project Manager at GLRC.

In August 2021, GLRC donated a new roof worth $ 58,730 to the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin SC Johnson Community Center at 1624 Yout St. in Racine. VOW Veteran’s Villages, located in Racine and Milwaukee, provide small shelter for veterans at risk of homelessness.

GLRC staff also collected and donated over 3,400 pounds of grocery and housewares that volunteers unpacked, sorted, stored and shelved on shelves at the free grocery store that VOW operates.

“This project was so much more than a roof,” said Moran. “It was an opportunity for all of our employees to get involved in helping hands and to build a community.”

“Great Lakes has done what we call ‘helping hands’ from the start. … There were a couple of employees who said ‘Hey, I know someone who needs something’ and we helped them. We built it on what we’re doing today. … We as a whole company bring in various projects and we vote on them throughout the company so that everyone can be involved. “
