Kan. man accused of fraud, forgery against roofing company

SALINA – Law enforcement is investigating a Kansas man in connection with alleged fraud and counterfeiting

An independent contractor, William Tarpein, 42, Salina, who, according to Police Captain Paul Forrester, was working on jobs for Kape Roofing and Exteriors Inc., 315 West Pacific Avenue in Salina.

He visited potential construction sites, gave estimates, bought materials, and arranged the work to be done. He also took payments from customers, but would not pass those payments on to Kape, according to Forrester. Tarpein is also said to have passed fictitious checks at local banks.

The total loss in this case is currently over $ 70,000, according to Forrester.

Police Arrest Tarpein has been arrested on solicited allegations, including counterfeiting, theft by fraud, theft and worthless checks.
