National roofing company moving to Tampa

TAMPA – A national commercial and industrial roofing company moves its headquarters to Tampa and says it will create 180 new high-wage jobs, the region’s business development agency said on Wednesday.

North American Roofing Services, based in Asheville, NC, berated Sarasota, another candidate for the roofing company’s headquarters, in May when the Sarasota County Commission denied the company a $ 1.6 million economic incentive package. The local commissioners sided with the local roofers, who questioned the subsidies.

North American Roofing will receive $ 900,000 in incentives to move to Tampa: $ 720,000 from the state and $ 180,000 from the City of Tampa and Hillsborough Counties. The money is available under the government’s Qualified Target Industries Program for companies creating high-wage jobs in targeted high-quality industries.

“Tampa is the perfect place for us to move our headquarters,” said Brian Verble, CEO of North American Roofing, in an announcement of the relocation of Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. “This city offers the sustainability that we need for a very long and successful future.”

The company will invest at least $ 800,000 in construction, renovation, office equipment and furnishings in the new headquarters facility located at Hidden River Corporate Center 2 in Tampa.

The new jobs will pay an average annual wage of $ 61,316 and will include functions such as management, accounting, finance, human resources, legal and information technology.

Crystal Sircy, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Enterprise Florida, the state’s official economic development organization, said Florida’s business climate was recently voted the best in the country by Business Facilities magazine.

“Announcements like this help confirm this ranking, and we are pleased that North American Roofing Services has decided to relocate their headquarters to Florida,” she said.
