National roofing firm bought by Cupa Group

The premium natural slate manufacturer Cupa Group has taken over a national roof specialist.

Rinus Roofing Supplies was founded in 2007 and is one of the largest independent distributors of such products in the UK. The company employs 184 people and looks after more than 2,600 customers.

The company is headquartered in Darwen and has 24 offices nationwide.

Cupa has acquired the business through its subsidiary Burton Roofing Merchants, with the transaction consolidating its position in the market.

Javier Fernández, General Manager of the Cupa Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rinus to the Cupa family.

“We were drawn to the company because of its strong track record and solid market position in the UK, which puts it in a solid position to further expand its presence and continue on its growth path.

“We look forward to working together to implement Cupa’s ambitious growth plans, strengthen our product range and expand our international presence.”

Mark Booth and Giles Taylor of KPMG advised on the deal.

Taylor said: “This transaction creates the UK’s largest independent roofing retailer and ideally positions the company to capitalize on the recent strong growth in the market.

“Well-run companies like Rinus will always attract potential applicants and the Cupa Group is perfectly positioned to help the company continue to expand its UK branch network and product portfolio.”
