OMG announced that the company’s three most popular retrofit roof gullies – Hercules, Hercules Plus and SpeedTite – have all been certified to the ASME 112.6.4 and CSA-B79-08 standards. As a result, these drains now meet both the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) requirements for use in roofing applications in the United States and Canada.
All sizes (3, 4, 5 and 6 inches) and most of the variations of the three retrofit processes, including various screen domes and TPO and PVC-coated flange versions for direct membrane attachment, have met the standards according to the manufacturer. Certification was completed in 2020 by QAI Laboratories, an independent testing, inspection and certification organization serving the construction industry.
ASME 112.6.4: This standard, developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, specifies minimum requirements for the construction of roof drains that draw rainwater from the roof surface of building structures. The standard covers various topics including definitions, nomenclature, connection and outlet types, dome or stainless area, top loader classifications, materials and accessories.
CSA B79-08: This is the Canadian Standards Association’s standard for commercial and residential drains and cleaning and supersedes all other code requirements in Canada. The standard provides requirements for a wide range of wastewater types, including surface, balcony, deck and roof drains. Like the ASME standard, CAS B79-08 deals with materials, requirements for connection design, fasteners, seals and markings.
