Philadelphia Police Come To Aid Of 70-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Scammed Out Of New Roof At Port Richmond Home – CBS Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police officers came to the rescue of a woman who was allegedly cheated out of a new roof on her Port Richmond home. According to police, 70-year-old Hatixhe Halite filed a police report after a repairman allegedly took $ 500 that she paid for roof repairs but then never showed up.

The officers couldn’t stop thinking about their plight. So while one of the officers was mending her roof from the recent rains, another found a roofer who volunteered to provide material and manpower to install a new roof.

“Every time it came into my heart, it broke. I’m in the process of doing it myself, even if I have to learn, but I’ll be on this roof myself if I have to, ”said Officer Cynthia Padua.

“She helped me and both, another guy, and I appreciate that,” Halite said.

“Through no fault of her own, she suffers every time it rains and it drips. Come out and just take care of it for her, ”Clarence E. Smith said.
