As part of its new residential repair program in Pittsfield, the City of Pittsfield is compiling a list of pre-qualified contractors working with homeowners enrolled in the program, due to begin this spring.
At-Home in Pittsfield, an exterior renovation loan program, enables eligible homeowners to renovate the exterior of their homes through a combination of funding from local lenders and the City of Pittsfield. The program aims to help residents who do not have access to traditional finance.
The city is investing $ 500,000 in the program, which is administered by rehabilitation staff from the Department of Community Development. Eligible repairs that can be funded through the program include replacing roofs; Window and door change; Repair or replacement of the porch; Chimney repairs; and siding replacement.
Mayor Linda Tyer said pre-qualified contractors would help streamline the process for all parties.
“We want to make sure that when we are ready to start this initiative, we have a solid pool of qualified contractors to do the job. It is equally important that we do everything we can to support our homeowners throughout the renovation project, ”she said.
The following are the minimum contractor qualifications for projects funded by At-Home in Pittsfield:
Contractors must have at least the specialist license for construction managers listed in the table above. Other acceptable license types are: CSSL (Construction Supervisor Specialty License) One & Two Family or CSL (Construction Supervisor License) Unrestricted. If the contractor is otherwise qualified, the Department of Community Development may be able to assist with the initial cost of Lead Safe Renovator training.
