Roof Above buys east Charlotte apartment complex to preserve affordable housing

According to Roof Above, they received a $ 5 million philanthropic gift – the largest private gift ever received from the organization – and a $ 2 million gift, both anonymously from two Charlotte families were donated. Atrium Health made a $ 5 million soft loan in consideration for using 50 homes over time to accommodate Atrium employees in need. The organization said funding was also provided by Bellweather Enterprise through a $ 31.6 Fannie Mae loan, Charlotte City’s voter-approved Housing Trust Fund, a $ 600,000 innovation grant from Local Initiatives Support Corporation, and additional Philanthropic donations totaling USD 1 million were made available to the project.
