Roof of Hollywood home partially collapses; no injuries reported – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – The roof of a house in Hollywood has partially collapsed due to the recent heavy rainfall in the area.

The homeowner told 7News that the incident happened overnight on Monday.

She said the roof was being worked on to repair the damage caused by Hurricane Irma.

She said the repair fell behind schedule due to an ongoing battle with the insurance company and the fact that she had to pay out of pocket.

The house was not occupied at the time of the collapse.

The homeowner said the room where the roof collapsed contained paperwork and other essential items.

In Hallandale Beach, another family was left in a big mess to clean up after part of their roof collapsed.

Sanecia Brown said she was asleep and woke up when her mother rushed to her room with her 4-month-old sister in tow.

“She was like, ‘The roof fell on us,’ so of course I got up and went to look,” Brown said, “and all the blanket was all over the bed and all over. I was worried about the baby. Us made sure that she is fine because she is 4 months old. “

The family said the baby was not injured in the accident, but they will have it checked out just in case.
