Roofing Alliance Announces Finalists for 2021 Student Competition

The Roofing Alliance announced the teams of finalists for the Roofing Alliance’s 7th annual student competition. The oral presentations for this well-known event will practically take place on April 8th.

The four teams of finalists are:

  • Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina
  • Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado
  • Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
  • University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida

This year’s competition challenges the four university-level construction management finalist student teams through written and oral presentations to test their roofing knowledge, project management skills and presentation skills. The teams had to research the project, review the plans and specifications, and put together a full estimate and a qualified proposal for a package deal that was presented to the judges at the Roofing Alliance.

This year, the teams were tasked with submitting a qualified package deal for a new roof system in the Las Vegas Raiders practice facility, which is part of the new Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center in Henderson, Nevada. Working with Dennis Conway, owner of Commercial Roofers Inc. in Las Vegas and founder of the Student Competition, the Roofing Alliance Student Competition Committee created the following schedule:

  • The oral presentations will take place on April 8th. The four teams of finalists present themselves virtually to the jury
  • The awards ceremony will take place on April 16 at 3 p.m. Eastern to virtually announce the winning teams and the best individual presenters

“We know that many schools don’t allow faculties or students to travel. That’s why we launched a completely virtual competition. The teams of finalists will virtually give oral presentations, ”said Allen Lancaster, current student competition chair and vice president of Metalcrafts A Tecta America Co., Savannah, Georgia. “We are very happy about the caliber of the participating teams. We want this competition to continue to be a favorite among construction management programs. “
