This year’s competition challenged four university-level construction management teams, including:

  • Clemson University, Clemson, SC
  • Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
  • Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
  • University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.

“They competed through written and oral presentations about their umbrella knowledge, project management skills, and presentation skills. The teams examined the project, reviewed the plans and specifications, and put together a full estimate and a qualified package proposal, which was presented to a committee of judges from the Roofing Alliance, ”said Allen Lancaster, current student competition chair and Metalcrafts A vice president Tecta America Co., Savannah, Ga. ”The oral presentations and award ceremony can be viewed on the Roofing Alliance YouTube channel. We are proud to share this with the roofing industry. ”

The teams were tasked with submitting a qualified package offer for a new roof system in the Raiders exercise facility, which is part of the new Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center in Henderson, Nevada. In collaboration with Dennis Roway, founder of the student competition from Commercial Roofers Inc. of Las Vegas, the Roofing Alliance student competition committee prepared the package for the schools. The project was originally reconsidered by Commercial Roofers Inc.
