Viridian Solar, the Cambridge-based specialist in roof-integrated solar energy, has been acquired by the roof systems manufacturer headquartered in Burton, Marley.
The acquisition builds on a commercial partnership between the two companies announced in 2020 in which Viridian Solar’s BIPV has expanded Marley’s range of roofing products to complete a full range of roofing systems for the UK construction industry.
Through the agreement, Viridian will continue to operate as a stand-alone unit, retain the existing management team and continue to support customers directly.
Stuart Elmes, CEO of Viridian Solar, said, “The past eighteen years have passed and while we are proud of what we have achieved as a team, our eyes remain firmly on the future. We look forward to starting an exciting new chapter in the development of Viridian Solar with our new colleagues at Marley.
“Our ambitious growth plans are now backed by the resources and reputation of being part of one of the largest and most respected names in the roofing industry, supported by Inflexion Private Equity Partners, who manage £ 5.4 billion in assets worldwide.”
David Speakman, CEO of Marley added, “The acquisition brings together two complementary companies that are both influential players and highly respected reputations in the construction market.
“Viridian’s close relationship with developers and solar distributors is complemented by Marley’s commercial reach in social housing and roofing installers.”
