S-5! together with the software developer PVComplete brings its new web-based solar calculator onto the market, with which sophisticated solar project layouts for standing seam roofs and exposed metal roofs can be created.
“Compatible with most PV module manufacturers in the industry and modules of all sizes, the S-5! Solar Calculator is the only one in the industry that calculates PV on metal Direct-Attach ™ railless roofs, which makes it easy to use with our S-5 PVKIT solar mounting system, ”said Rob Haddock, CEO and Founder of S-5!
Users enter project data into the S-5’s solar computer! including metal roof type and manufacturer, roof dimensions, module size, module manufacturer and seam spacing. Based on the selected location, the fully developed calculator calculates the forces in upward (uplift), downward, side (seismic) and slope / parallel force in accordance with ASCE 7. It also uses Google Maps to help guide the placement of modules on the Roof to help.
The calculator provides recommendations for module spacing to align standing seams with the module manufacturers’ assembly zones, as well as a summary of the energy output detailing how much energy the array will produce, the time frame to achieve a return on investment (ROI), a bill of materials, and a full one Report that is available to a competent authority (AHJ).
The S-5! Solar Calculator (patent pending) is an intuitive web app that makes it easy for sales professionals and project developers to create advanced solar project layouts with little or no training. With just five clicks, users can create a solar project design full of valuable information, including 8760 production data. The design tool is also the first to integrate the structural requirements of ASCE-16.
In the office or in the field, users can access the software from any computing device to create one or more solar design variants that can be exported as a PDF in minutes to share with colleagues or as part of client proposals.
“Our driving mission at PVComplete is to provide software solutions that accelerate the global adoption of solar energy by improving the speed, accuracy and overall ROI of solar project design,” said PVComplete President Daniel Sherwood. “That’s why we really wanted to enter into a partnership with S-5! to develop this platform to enable a new level of advanced customer support with sophisticated self-service tools and automated design functions. “
