Tesla Solar Roof poised for international rollout, suggests latest patent filing

Tesla is ready to expand its solar roof product to international markets. The California-based company has filed for a solar roof patent with the European Patent Office.

The patent with the title “Packaging for solar roof tiles” describes the housing structure of a single solar roof tile from Tesla. Although this patent was previously filed in the United States, it was not filed with the European Patent Office.

The patent application seems to indicate CEO Elon Musk’s wish to launch Tesla’s solar roof on the international market later this year. The specification of the patent examines the construction of a solar roof tile module, indicating that the assembly contains “several solar roof tiles arranged next to one another and one or more tile spacers. The tiles are electrically and mechanically coupled to one another. “

I look forward to international expansion later this year 😀

In the US, Tesla’s solar roof ramp peaked, according to the company’s Q1 2020 update letter. Weekly production of the solar roof at the company’s Giga New York facility in Buffalo exceeded 4 MW or was enough for 1,000 households.

Solar Roof’s ramp requires an increased production rate in Giga New York as Musk has indicated that initial orders from European customers will be served by the company’s solar factory in the United States. This strategy could change in the future depending on the demand for solar roofs in European markets.

The solar roof offers many advantages for owners who want to use it for their energy needs in residential areas. Not only is the system capable of extracting energy from the sun, but the tiles themselves are also aesthetically pleasing. Traditional solar panels, while practical, do not meet the typical aesthetic needs of some homeowners, which can ultimately lead to people stop using them.

With the new lower Tesla prices, it’s like having a money printer on your roof if you live in a state with high electricity costs. Even better to buy, but the rental option makes the profitability obvious.

From an economic point of view, Musk’s Tesla solar products have been compared to a money machine. “With the new lower Tesla prices, it is like having a money printer on the roof if you live (in) a state with high electricity costs,” said the CEO on Twitter. “Even better to buy, but the rental option makes the profitability obvious.”
