Workers with North Haven GL Capasso Inc. contractors re-roofing and realigning mortar in the Connecticut Superior Court Geographical Area 10 (GA 10) building on Broad Street, New London, Monday.
The $ 1.09 million project began in November while the courthouse closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The GA 10 business was conducted in the judicial district courthouse at 70 Huntington Street during the closure.
The Romanesque-style building was built in 1891 and housed the Williams Memorial Institute, an all-girls college until the school moved to the Connecticut College campus in 1954.
The state rented the building for 25 years from 1972 and bought it in 1997.
