The Garland Company Gives Back To Community

Garland Company, Inc., a Cleveland, OH-based, employee-owned manufacturer of roofing and building envelope solutions, is celebrating its 125th anniversary by donating thousands of dollars to local community initiatives. Garland’s year-long fundraising campaign includes donating a scholarship, groceries, supplies and volunteer hours from employees to mark the company’s milestone.

Garland is rolling out a number of community fundraising initiatives throughout 2020.

“Giving back our church is the cornerstone of what Garland was founded on,” said David Sokol, president of Garland. “As a company, supporting our neighbors in the community is anchored in our values and culture. There is no other way we would like to celebrate our anniversary than giving back to the community that Garland has shown so much support over these 125 years. “

One of the initiatives is a donation of $ 125 to a charity of each employee’s choice.

As part of his efforts to support education in our community, Garland is launching two charitable initiatives to support local students. In March 2020, Garland launched an annual Garland Scholarship program for children of Garland employees. The $ 12,500 one-time scholarship is awarded to a high school graduate who wishes to continue his or her education at a business school, community college or university, or current college student. The scholarship is given to a new student each year and increased annually to reflect each year the company exists. During the summer, Garland will also donate 125 backpacks and uniforms to students at a school near Garland’s facility.

Garland plans additional charitable initiatives to support neighbors in the community. In the fall, Garland is expected to purchase supplies to donate to a local senior citizen center. The 2020 final donation will be in November when Garland employees will hand out 125 Thanksgiving turkeys to local food banks.

“We look forward to another year of celebration and the opportunity to support so many great charitable initiatives,” said Sokol. “We expect many more years of success with Garland.”
