Thieves steal thousands in equipment from Pompano Beach roofing business – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

POMPANO BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – Thieves were caught on surveillance video stealing thousands of dollars worth of equipment from a roofing shop in Pompano Beach.

The break-in occurred Monday morning at AMC Roofing Contractors along Southwest 12th Avenue north of West McNab Road.

Michael Cherry, the business owner, said a worker called him and said the lock on the trailer with its equipment was broken.

After looking inside, Cherry discovered that thousands of dollars worth of equipment had been stolen.

“Third generation roofers. We’ll do that, ”said Cherry. “They took the big saws, skil saws, table saws, chop saws, a few different drills – just a few different tools.”

The surveillance video showed three men and a woman taking the equipment from the trailer parked outside the store.

“They just saw it as a tag,” said Cherry. “A guy, I can see some tattoos on him, a beard. He almost looked like he’d stopped once or twice and posed in front of the camera.

The video also showed the license plate of the silver Mazda Protege sedan of an older model. The license plate read “IZI Z29”.

The trailer the thieves broke into belonged to Kirsch’s father, himself a lifelong roofer.

“Remembering him… just doesn’t help. It just doesn’t help, “said Cherry, fighting back the tears.

If you have information about this theft, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous and potentially receive a $ 3,000 reward.
